Why should I select EiT over other alternative certification programs?

One of the elements that makes EiT distinct is the faculty members who will be teaching full-time hold earned doctorates in curriculum and instruction. In addition, they have had broad experiences in education ranging from years of experience to levels of experience from Pre-K through post-graduate. Finally, everyone associated with EiT has an enduring passion for and absolute commitment to successfully preparing highly-qualified and culturally-sensitive teachers.

How qualified are the instructors?

Full-time faculty have earned their doctorates in curriculum and instruction, hold multiple valid lifetime Texas teaching certificates and have taught in both private and public schools (K-12 and Universities) in the state of Texas.

Who can enroll in the EiT program?

Applicants who have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited university may apply to be selected into the EiT Program.

I am currently enrolled in another alternative certification program.  Can I transfer to EiT?

Yes, TEA has provisions for a candidate to transfer from one program to another when necessary. However, it is advised that you complete with the program your are enrolled with.

How do I transfer?

There is an Official form called the ASEP Data Reassignment Form which is available through the EiT Program Office. Just come by our office. We will be happy to guide you through the process.

I was told that if I graduated with a bachelors degree from a school of education, such as UTRGV, I cannot be admitted into an alternative educator preparation program (EPP). Is this accurate?

The state provides opportunities for a graduate from a school of education, such as UT, to be considered as a possible candidate for an EPP if the graduate (a) still needs to pass content and/or the pedagogy and professional responsibility (PPR) exams or (b) has passed the content test in a certification field and has yet to pass the PPR and is willing to change certification fields, such as many graduates are doing. If you have passed the content test for Bilingual Generalist EC-4 or Generalist EC-4 and want to change to the more marketable Bilingual Generalist EC-6 or Generalist EC-6 certification, you may apply to an EPP because the state considers it a different certification field. Currently, EIT® is the only EPP in the Rio Grande Valley that is approved, accredited, and certified by TEA and SBEC to offer these two highly demanded certification fields.

Does EiT offer refunds of fees?
